The Gare do Oriente is the main transportation hub in Lisbon. Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava designed it and Nesco built it and finished it in 1998 for the Expo ’98 World fair. It consists of the Lisbon Metro which is a regional train hub and contains also a shopping center, a local, regional and international bus station as well as a police office. The station is similar to the Allen Lambert Galleria also designed by Calatrava but it has some influence from the Gothic architecture.
